Hillside Remediation Case Study

Project:Site Stabilisation and Footing Design for a Residential Development

Client:Private Client

This project involved the development of a substantial 3-storey residential house on a steep site above Palm Beach where there were significant land stability & drainage issues. The area of the proposed building was also below an existing house built on a steep slope, as well as within an area of potential landslip.

The firm was initially engaged to provide the usual geotechnical advice / reports, and later to provide details & specifications for the landslip remedial works, as well as review of the pile footing construction.

The slope stabilisation methods adopted at the site included deep subsoil & surface drainage, and some earthworks. Also, due to the depth of talus / colluvial soils at the site, the footing system adopted an interconnected grid of reinforced concrete piles into the bedrock which was located about 7m below the surface.
