Project: Driveway for Subdivision, Newport NSW
Client:2-4-6 Subdivision Venture
A proposal to undertake a land subdivision on a steeply sloping site in Newport raised a number of significant engineering problems due to the inherent potential for instability at the site. The development of a shared access driveway was required to enable the creation of two new lots on the lower part of the land.
Shirley Consulting Engineers were engaged to provide specific geotechnical advice in relation to the proposal, and subsequently produced a detailed design for the driveway. The firm's design also included post & log retaining walls, a reinforced Keystone block wall and appropriate slopes for site filling / excavations. The firm also liaised with specialist drainage consultants during the design for the driveway drainage system & on-site stormwater detention tank.
The firm produced a technical specification for the project and were involved in various site inspections during the construction works. On completion, a detailed set of Work-As-Excecuted plans were developed for Council certification of the new subdivison.
